James Maughan

James (Jamie) Maughan is a Vice President in Water Resources at the international consulting firm of CH2M HILL. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and Senior Advisor for Environmental Policy and Science at the U.S. Department of Transportation. He received his B.A. at Old Dominion University in Biology, his M.S. at Virginia Tech in Aquatic Ecology, and his Ph.D. in Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography. The effects of anthropogenic perturbations, primarily in the near shore environment, have been his consulting and research focus. He has published textbooks on Ecological Risk Assessment and Environmental Analysis. In his semi-retirement, he is enjoying sharing his 40 years of experience in the environmental field with colleagues and students early in their careers.
