March 7, 2016: Minor in Conservation Leadership Accepted: The undergraduate Minor in Conservation Leadership proposed by the project team to ODU has been accepted. It is expected that the minor will be fully implemented for the Fall 2016 term.

January 28, 2016: US Fish and Wildlife Service creates urban internships: A partnership of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with the Hispanic Access Foundation aims to attract city residents to refuges. The goal of this partnership is in line with the goals of the project. Read the article ...

October 15, 2015: Inside ODU reports on the MARI project to train conservation leaders: MARI at ODU has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to develop curricula for minors and certificates, as well as a service learning and internships program for conservation leadership under climate change and sea level rise. The project also aims to co-design a reserach agenda addressing the impacts of climate change and sea level rise on conservation. Read the article ...

WP 3. Internships and Practical Work Experience

In coordination with FWS, implement supervised internships for students to earn academic credits for practical work experience, both inside the service learning and certificate programs, and outside of these. Assist and coordinate with FWS to recruit students for employment opportunities that provide practical work experience in conservation biology and knowledge of administrative support functions.
