ACTIVITIES
The annotated list of activities relevant to mitigation and adaptation provides access to whatever activitity we come across. It is not a complete list. If you have any links to activities you deem relevant, please, let us know.
- EcosHaz: The “Economics of Prevention Measures Addressing Coastal Hazards”(EcosHaz) project is an initiative funded by Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection of the European Union. It aims to establish a sustainable knowledge framework addressing the costs and benefits of prevention and response to coastal hazards resulting from hydro-meteorological events (flooding, shoreline erosion, storm surges, and sea level rise) and oil spill accidents. The project is realized by a consortium of six partners from Greece, Spain, UK, Poland and Italy, and has duration of 24 months starting from the 1st of January 2015.
- APNET: The Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership has the mission to identify, protect, and restore the significant resources of the Albemarle-Pamlico estuarine system. APNEP's work to protect and restore North Carolina's sounds improves the environment, human health, and the quality of life. It also works to promote economic opportunity.
- FutureVoices: At FutureVoices.net, people build on these futurethinking ideas by recording voicemails of their own to add to the growing library. It seems very simple — and it is. But it has a depth as well.
- FutureCoast: FutureCoast is a collaborative storytelling activity about possibly climate changed futures. At FutureCoast.org, people listen to these voicemails and speculate about the futures they must come from.
- Frederick S. Pardee Center for International Futures: Quote from the web page: “At the Frederick S. Pardee Center for International Futures, our mission is to explore, understand, and shape alternative futures of global change and human development. As part of this pursuit, we have built the International Futures (IFs) model, the most sophisticated and comprehensive forecasting modeling system available to the public. IFs uses our best understanding of global systems to produce forecasts for 186 countries to the year 2100.”
- The PolarHub: The PoLAR Hub is the official website of the Polar Learning and Responding (PoLAR) Climate Change Education Partnership.
- SESYNC: The National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC)—funded through a National Science Foundation grant to the University of Maryland—is dedicated to solving society’s most challenging and complex environmental problems. As one of only a few U.S. transdisciplinary research centers, SESYNC brings together different disciplines and stakeholders to increase knowledge on the complex interactions between human and ecological systems.
